This drawing began as a test. I wanted to get my finished works dry mounted on archival foam core, a process which uses very high heat; and since my works are primarily charcoal, which is certainly known for its ability to burn, I was advised to test it out first on “something I wouldn’t mind losing.” So I started this drawing as a collection of different techniques that I regularly use, and as I went along, what usually happens happened: I saw a shape in the chaos & worked to draw it out. I ended up liking it, and when I took it to be dry mounted; I was very relieved to find that despite the heat, the process worked just fine. This was therefore the first of my works to be dry mounted, and a fun test run.
