This one was inspired by all those great 17th and 18th century woodcarvings and engravings depicting witches’ sabbaths. I also love Goya’s witch paintings and all the stuff from his “black period.”
Instead of the devil and his disciples, here we have spawn of the great Cthulhu and a crowd of their newfound followers.
It could be a scene from the end of Hawthorne’s “Young Goodman Brown” if it had been written by Lovecraft or witnessed by Richard Upton Pickman…
